In this thesis, the author states and explains terms related to emotional intelligence, in a way to interpret the definition of emotional intelligence, theoretical models of emotional intelligence and the importance of emotional intelligence in approaching and leading people. Emotional intelligence is a term that has been frequently mentioned in the public over the last thirty years. The definition and first studies of this term are linked to the authors Daniel Goleman, Konstantinos V. Petrides, Adrian Furnham and Howard Gardner who viewed emotional intelligence as an original ability related to interaction processes between cognition and emotions. Emotional intelligence is a type of intelligence that includes the ability to process emotional information, their meaning, as well as their application in social interaction. Emotional intelligence connects concepts such as intelligence and emotion, which was once unimaginable considering that emotions were considered to impair the ability to work effectively, objectively and with quality. Following numerous research, nowadays, it becomes clear that employees with prominent emotional intelligence can represent a central place in the business world due to their ability to deal with stress and frustrations as well as controlling bad behavior. Also, more and more employees consider and appreciate other benefits (besides salary) when choosing a new employer or staying with their current one. The paper lists and explains the leadership styles as well as the concepts related to them. Research was conducted in the form of a survey on the importance of the role of emotional intelligence in the organization.
